School Sports SA (formerly SAPSASA)
At Thorndon Park Primary School, we are proud to provide students with a wide range of opportunities to participate in sport through our involvement in School Sport SA.
Through this partnership, students can take part in organised competitions and events across South Australia, designed to promote wellbeing, inclusion and skill development in a safe and supportive environment. These experiences allow students to represent their school, challenge themselves, and build confidence while developing teamwork and resilience.
Our Participation
We actively register teams and individual students across a range of sports throughout the year, including:
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Netball
- Swimming
- Athletics
- Cross Country Running
Students have opportunities to compete at different levels, from local carnivals to broader competitions, helping them experience both participation and performance pathways.
Why School Sport Matters
Participation in school sport supports students to:
- Develop physical skills and healthy habits
- Build confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship
- Experience success, challenge and personal growth
- Strengthen connections with peers and the wider school community
School sport also provides authentic learning opportunities, allowing students to apply skills from Health and Physical Education in real and meaningful contexts.
A Culture of Participation
We are committed to ensuring all students have the opportunity to get involved, regardless of ability or experience. Our focus is on participation, enjoyment and growth, while also celebrating those who pursue higher levels of competition.
Through our ongoing involvement in school sport, we continue to foster a strong sense of pride, teamwork and community across our school.
