OSHC
We believe that Thorndon Park Primary School Out of School Hours Care is a valuable and integral part of Thorndon Park Primary School and the local community. We enable children to develop secure and respectful relationships, as well as establish and build on life skills. Educators work in partnership with children, families and the community to provide ongoing learning experiences.
Your children are amazing individuals and we strive to meet their needs in a nurturing and stimulating environment. We incorporate the principles, practices and outcomes from the My Time, Our Place framework to make it the best possible experience for your child. We look forward to meeting you and your child/ren and involving them in our program.
How to Enrol
The Program
The Out of School Hours Care program offers regular Before School Care, After School Care, Occasional Care and Vacation Care for the children of Thorndon Park Primary School and the local community. Breakfast is offered during Before School Care and nutritious afternoon tea (sandwiches, fresh fruit, yoghurt, etc.) is provided daily.
After school activities are less structured than those offered during the vacation periods, to allow the children to ‘wind down’ after the school day.
The program’s activities are designed to meet the interests of children aged between 4 -12. Children are offered the opportunity to participate in leisure and recreation activities like art and craft, outdoor games, gardening, cooking and drama. Excursions during the Vacation Care period are made locally and further afield.
New enrolments are always welcome; please call in to pick up an enrolment pack, meet the educators and have a look around our space.

OSHC Advisory Committee
What does the OSHC Committee do? The committee provides input on our OSHC policies, provides parent feedback on our service, offers suggestions for improvements, and helps ensure the OSHC program continues to meet the needs of our children and families.
Time Commitment: We meet just two times per term — and you can join the meeting at school or via Webex link depending on what is most convenient for you. Meetings are held on Thursdays at 6pm in Week 2 and Week 6 of each term. We aim to keep the discussions focused and productive so the meetings can stay under an hour.
Why Join? This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved, have your voice heard, and contribute to the growth of the service. Your input can make a real difference for our kids and their OSHC experience. Currently our committee is made up of the OSHC Director (Lily), one Governing Council delegate, one school representative and one parent.
What if my children are with me? If your children with you on the day of the meeting, they can stay in the school front office during meetings from 6pm onwards. Our OSHC educators will bring them over when OSHC closes, so you can participate in the meeting without worrying about childcare. You can also simply join us on WebEx via the link sent out before the meeting.
If you’re interested in joining the OSHC Committee or would like more information, please email Lily at thorndonpark.oshc@schools.sa.edu.au.
