Through the Visual and Media Arts program at Thorndon Park Primary School, students are encouraged to act and think like artists. Our program empowers students to unleash their inner artists and media creators, fostering creativity and innovation throughout school.

Drawing is a fundamental part of the art program, which is taught explicitly in lessons through observational drawing and exploratory techniques. Students are also taught how to work with different materials and techniques as they explore a variety of genres from landscapes to portraiture. We can often be found outside the classroom making drawings, taking photos or collecting objects to draw, utilising the beautiful grounds of the school.

Similarly, in Media Arts, students delve into the world of digital media creation, learning skills in photography, video production, and digital design. Whether creating artwork or digital media projects, students immerse themselves in the joy of artistic and media expression.

Through hands-on projects and exploratory learning experiences, students develop their artistic skills and media literacy while embracing their unique individuality.

In Upper Primary, students have the opportunity to showcase their Visual and Media Arts projects in exhibitions at venues such as the Campbelltown library. These events provide platforms for students to showcase their talents and share their creativity with the broader community.
