Performing Arts
The Arts curriculum at Thorndon Park Primary School provides a nurturing environment where students can create, imagine and inspire through the immersive journey of visual arts, music, dance and drama.
Each student is given many opportunities to unleash their creative potential, explore diverse forms of expression and cultivate a deep appreciation for the arts. Some of our highlights include learning instruments like the ukulele, piano, recorder, drumming and percussion. We showcase our learning with our end of year concert that follows our theme for the year and students are given the opportunity to showcase their learning and their skills via choreography, hosting the event, mixing and creating music and leading a performance in front of an audience.
Students collaborate in performances, build confidence and resilience and develop a sense of self-expression.
Join us on a journey where every performance is a celebration of your child’s unique talents and limitless potential.
Wakakirri
Wakakirri, a nationwide Festival for Australian schools that provides a platform for students to express their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations through the art of storytelling and dance.
Nurturing your child’s artistic spirit and fostering teamwork through this dynamic performing arts program, we believe in empowering our students to express themselves creatively, build confidence, and develop invaluable interpersonal skills.
Through Wakakirri, children explore the world of storytelling, music, dance, and drama, finishing in an electrifying live performance. With themes deeply embedded in the experience, our school has explored the concepts of rise, change and belonging. Our performances have captivated audiences and touched hearts through skilled choreography, colourful performances and powerful narratives. Our students dive into the depths of these themes, creating tales of resilience, growth and the desire to find one’s place in the world.
